Patrons, not county, should support Bills
A recent letter writer suggests that cultural organizations be supported by patrons and endowments. I agree wholeheartedly, but all cultural organizations must be included. The Buffalo Bills is the largest cultural organization in Western New York, and it should not depend on hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars of financial aid from Erie County. Instead, the Bills should depend on ticket sales and contributions from organizations that depend on the Bills, such as media (TV stations, radio stations, The Buffalo News, bars and supermarkets that sell beer).
In addition, the Bills may appeal to TV watchers to send contributions, just like the other culturals do. This will remove an enormous cost to the Erie County budget.
