East Aurora School Superintendent Brian D. Russ received a two-year contract extension from the School Board this week, which boosts his yearly salary by 9.4 percent, to $145,000.

The board approved the contract extension early for Russ in a 5-0 vote, with two board members absent.

Russ has been earning $132,500. His 2011 contract was for four years, carrying his appointment to June 2015. The board’s move to extend his contract now carries his appointment to June 30, 2017.

“The district is most fortunate to have Mr. Russ serve as superintendent at a time when skilled leadership is essential in meeting the challenges facing public education,” Board President Daniel Brunson said. “Mr. Russ is still one of the lowest paid superintendents in Erie County. This is a very reasonable salary in comparison to his colleagues in Erie County.”
