Don’t use slain students as talking point for cause

It didn’t take long for people to claim there is something analogous between the unfortunate traumatic deaths of young children at Sandy Hook Elementary School and abortion. These individuals lay in the weeds just waiting to make illogical comparisons that sound as if they have validity.

I oppose sending young 18-, 19- and 20-year-olds to die in battle fighting wars that were created by the older generation and its politicians. Would the writer of the previous letter drawing the Sandy Hook-anti-abortion comparison wish to make that argument, too? Would she call that “late-term abortion”? She would probably want to give medals to these “heroes” who “give their life for their country,” as these cliched sentiments usually go these days.

Stop using the senseless murder of vibrant young children as a speaking point for a cause that has nothing to do with the issue of abortion. Better yet, petition our politicians to stop sending young people to fight wars that are going to haunt this country in the same way that the mistake of Vietnam has done in the past.
