How would Martin Luther King Jr. address the violence in America today?

Students in grades four though 12 are invited to answer that question in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest, with the winners announced at a program from 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 19 in the Frank E. Merriweather Jr. Library, 1324 Jefferson Ave.

Typed or printed essays, no longer than two pages, must be submitted at the library by Monday. Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded.

Students must include their name, age, grade, school, address and two contact phone numbers. The contest is sponsored by historian, columnist and retired teacher Eva M. Doyle. For more information, call 847-6010 or 533-9547.
