The American Red Cross is helping five children and four adults displaced by a fire that damaged their 2½-story frame house at 45 Cambridge Ave. tonight.

The fire, called in about 6:30 p.m., began on the first floor and spread to the second floor and attic.

No injuries were reported. The blaze caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to the structure and $10,000 damage to its contents, Buffalo fire officials said.

The cause remains under investigation.
