BATAVIA – Batavia Downs Casino showed a profit for 2012 for the eighth consecutive year, with a net income of $45.1 million.
The operation, owned by Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corp., has been on the plus side every year since video lottery terminals were installed in 2005. The 2012 year increase was 13 percent over the previous year’s $40 million.
Michael D. Kane, president and CEO, said the profits from the 640 slotlike machines go to the State Lottery and the 15 counties and cities of Buffalo and Rochester that he noted are “owners” of the quasi-public corporation.
The track concluded its 66th season a month ago with record-high purses the slots pay out for horsemen.
