CASTILE – A Castile man was charged by Wyoming County sheriff’s deputies and state troopers Sunday, when he returned to the North Main Street home where he allegedly threatened a female family member with a machete until a neighbor was able to talk him into putting down the machete.

Dakota J. Ribbeck, 20, of is accused of choking a the family member, pulling a telephone out of a wall when she tried to make an emergency call then threatening her with a knife before a neighbor intervened and he fled, according to police.

Ribbeck fled the scene about 5 p.m. Sunday and was arrested when he returned a short time later, police said.

HE was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief and harassment, and sent to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He faces further proceedings in Castile Village Court.
