BATAVIA – Batavia Downs Casino showed a profit for 2012 for the eighth consecutive year, with a net income of $45.1 million.

The operation, owned by Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corp., has been on the plus side every year since video lottery terminals were installed in 2005.

The 2012 year increase was 13 percent over the previous year’s $40 million.

Michael D. Kane, president and CEO, said the profits from the 640 slot-like machines goes to the State Lottery and the 15 counties and cities of Buffalo and Rochester who he noted are “owners” of the quasi-public corporation.

The historic harness racing track concluded its 66th season a month ago with record-high purses the slots pay out for horsemen.
