TIME OF NEED – Hamburg resident Linda Wray-Enser and her family got out safely when a fire started in a rear bedroom of their Pleasant Avenue home on the day after Christmas, but they lost everything.

While the family of five is staying temporarily with Linda’s mother, Denise Wray, in Hamburg, a benefit fund has been established to help them get started again. Donations may be made at any M&T Bank branch or by mailing a check to M&T Bank, 6000 South Park Ave., Hamburg, NY 14075.

WAR STORIES – The War of 1812 Lecture Series at the Buffalo History Museum, Nottingham Court and Elmwood Avenue, continues at 6 p.m. Wednesday when Andrew Nicholls, professor of history at Buffalo State College, speaks on “An Analysis of the Causes of the War of 1812” in the auditorium. A question period will follow.

Outside the auditorium is a 10-panel display compiled by the Black Rock Historical Society, featuring historic buildings in Black Rock and the role the village played in the war and its battles. The lecture is included in the museum admission fee.

LOTUS POSITION – Rising Sun Yoga will hold an open house from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in its studio at Georgetown Plaza, 5225 Sheridan Drive at Evans Street, Amherst. Visitors can look in on classes in session in the main room of the studio, including baby and toddler sessions.

Healthy refreshments will be served, and visitors will have a chance to win prizes, including free class passes and yoga mats.
