Top knots and side braids were popular hairstyles in 2012, but pixie cuts and other cropped ’dos seen on celebs in recent months continue to look fresh as can be. Among those sporting the short look: Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Halle Berry, Michelle Williams, Ginnifer Goodwin and Miley Cyrus.
Could this be the year for a whole new look?
For winter clearance sales, nothing quite beats a great buy on a beautiful coat. Whether it’s a dress coat in classic black or camel, or a shorter style in an upbeat color, your coat is what many people will be spotting you in most the next couple months.
Other smart buys: warm winter gloves, a longer-length sweater, great-fitting jeans, a tote large enough to assemble all your daily belongings, a blouse in a flattering color and, of course, fitness clothes to keep you motivated.
The holidays may be behind us, but that doesn’t mean the end of sparkle. Metallics, which have been a big trend in fashion, are trickling down into home design.
“You’ll find them mostly on fabric items like table linens, bedding and accent pillows, but also look for them in unexpected places, such as on ottomans and kitchen tile,” ShopSmart magazine reports.
As one design pro told the magazine: While it’s a nice touch during the holidays, “a little sparkle can lift your spirits through the dark days of winter.”
And finally …
“Fashion is a lifestyle. When used appropriately, dressing with style can create impactful memories, express a desired mood and articulate individuality without saying a word … Style is inherent, but fashion is a learned skill.”
