Janet Woods, a former director of the Western District New York State Parent-Teacher Association, died Sunday at her home in Kenmore. She was 93.

Born in Niagara Falls, Ont., she moved to Buffalo with her family in 1927 and became a U.S. citizen in 1944.

She was a graduate of East High School and the Rochester Institute of Technology. She began her PTA activity at Roosevelt Elementary School in 1961, served two years as co-chairwoman of the ways and means committee and as president.

She also served as recording secretary of the Kenmore PTA Council. She was presented with an honorary life membership by the Roosevelt PTA.

Mrs. Woods served as co-chairwoman of a Parent and Family Life and Health workshop in the Buffalo YWCA and corresponding secretary of the Women’s Missionary Society of Knox United Presbyterian Church on Elmwood Avenue in Kenmore.

Her husband, Williams N., predeceased her. She is survived by a son, Bruce N.

A memorial service is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday in Knox United Presbyterian Church, 2595 Elmwood Ave., Kenmore.
