CLARENDON – A Holley man was injured seriously about 8:30 p.m. Friday when his snowmobile collided head-on with a car in the Town of Clarendon, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office said.

Steven E. Belknap, 35, was taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, where he was listed in guarded condition Saturday, the sheriff’s office said.

Belknap faces charges, including operating a snowmobile while in an intoxicated condition and operating a snowmobile on a public highway, authorities said.

Deputies said Belknap was operating a 2001 Ski-Doo in the 4400 block of Bennett’s Corners Road, traveling south in the northbound lane. Belknap – who was wearing a helmet – collided with a 2001 Dodge sedan and was thrown from the sled.

The driver of the car, Travis J. DeYoung, 19, of Clarendon, was not injured, deputies said.
