The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference season begins today for the women with Canisius hosting Siena at 11 a.m. and Niagara hosting Iona at 7 p.m.

It’s the annual Kids’ Day event at the Koessler Center. The Griffs are 8-2 in their last 10 home Kids’ Day events, including a come-from-behind overtime win over Iona, 85-74, last season.

Canisius finished the non-conference season at 3-9 while Siena enters the game with a 4-7 mark.

Jamie Ruttle is averaging 10 points a game for the Griffs while Ashley Wilkes is the leading rebounder (6.6). Lily Grenci is leading Siena with 13.3 points a game.

At the Gallagher Center, Niagara hopes to end a two-game losing streak as the Purple Eagles finished the non-conference season at 5-6. The Gaels are also 5-6, coming off a loss at Stony Brook.

Lauren Gatto leads Niagara in scoring (13.3) and rebounding (5.7) while Damika Martinez is pacing Iona, scoring 17.7 a game.
