SALAMANCA – A city woman was arrested by the Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies Thursday on assault charges.

Courtney L. Crouse, 19, is accused of hitting her boyfriend on the head with a shovel during a heated argument early New Year’s Day, sheriff’s officials said.

After she was arrested, deputies found Crouse was wanted on a warrant for a previous assault in the city that endangered a young child.

She is being held without bail at the Cattaraugus County Jail pending further court proceedings in both cases.
