Wegmans is locking in the prices until April 6 on 53 seasonal products that customers buy most.
The supermarket chain’s winter price freeze list was announced Wednesday and includes boneless chicken breast for $1.99 a pound and an 8-pound pack of navel oranges for $4.99.
Even if costs go up, Wegmans said, it will not raise prices on these products during this period. The list is made up almost exclusively of Wegmans-brand products.
The company began locking in prices in 2011 to provide consistent prices during uncertain economic conditions. Last year, the program changed from a yearlong list to seasonal to provide shoppers low prices on items they need most at any time of the year.
The list comprises selections in meat, seafood, produce, grocery, dairy, bakery, frozen foods and deli. A complete list is available at www.wegmans.com.
