TICKET TO RIDE – Today is the deadline for nonprofit organizations to apply for a new van through the 2013 Ford Friendship Express program. Applications and guidelines can be found at www.wnyford.com under the “local events” tab. The recipient will be announced at the Buffalo Auto Show in February. Since the program began in 1996 in Western New York, 68 vans valued at more than $1.7 million have been awarded.Previous recipients include the Olmsted Center for Sight, the Bristol Home, Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services, Meals on Wheels of Buffalo and Erie County, Friends of Night People, the Buffalo Zoo, Kids Escaping Drugs, SABAH and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Eden and the Northtowns.

ALL SHOOK UP – Back before award-winning independent film director John Paget moved to Buffalo, he spent a couple of years following Elvis Presley impersonators around the nation as they warmed up for the big Elvis contest in Memphis, Tenn.

The result is the documentary “Almost Elvis: Elvis Impersonators & Their Quest for the Crown,” which will be screened at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Riviera Theatre, 67 Webster St., North Tonawanda. It will be followed by a live performance by the winner of one of the recent contests in Memphis. Tickets are $25, $20 for seniors. Call 692-2413.

MUSICAL MEMORIAL Organist and choir director Jennifer Ross of St. Simon’s Episcopal Church, 200 Cazenovia St., South Buffalo, writes: “I lost a good friend of mine a few weeks ago to multiple myeloma and wanted to do a service in her name and a friend of hers that passed a month before her from multiple myeloma as well.”

The service, the Second Annual Organ Recital and Service of Lessons and Carols for Epiphany, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday and will feature the church’s Adult, Junior and Bells choirs. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Center in memory of Joy Flattery and Cathy Pasquella. Refreshments will follow. For info, call 822-1901.
