NIAGARA FALLS – City police were led on a chase after responding to a call of a man with a gun in the 1800 block of Michigan Avenue just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Police chased a green Grand Prix for several blocks and said the driver refused to stop, going through several stop signs. At one point, the vehicle stopped and a passenger, Jheryl B. Carter, got out, but the driver and other passengers in the car continued to flee in the vehicle, according to police.
The driver stopped again at 16th Street and Michigan Avenue and he and the other passengers all fled the scene on foot. Police were unable to locate the men and said they found a sawed-off double-barrel shotgun in the car.
Carter, 23, of 12th Street, was found with 8.2 grams of marijuana and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police reported.
