The University at Buffalo men’s basketball team will be living on Tulsa time tonight at 8 p.m. when it plays the Golden Hurricane in the Reynolds Center.

It will be a homecoming game for junior center Cameron Downing, who played just down the road at Memorial High School in Tulsa.

Buffalo (5-8) is coming off an 84-64 win over Notre Dame College (Ohio) last Friday night.

The Bulls were led by a trio of post players who combined for 49 points; Javon McCrea’s topped the group with 17 points in just 20 minutes. Downing comes into the Tulsa game with plenty of momentum after scoring a career-high 16 points against Notre Dame.

Tulsa brings a 7-6 overall record into the non-conference matchup, including a 4-1 mark at home. The Golden Hurricane are coming off an 82-63 loss at Florida State last Saturday.

This will be only the second meeting between the two teams. Tulsa won, 80-75, in 2001 during the Yahoo! Invitational.

The Bulls are 7-16 all-time against Conference USA schools.

McCrea has led the Bulls in scoring in nine of the team’s 13 games. With five blocks against Notre Dame, McCrea passed Mark Bortz for fourth place in school history, with 128.

Jarryn Skeete is the first true freshman to start more than one game at point guard for the Bulls since Byron Mulkey (Niagara-Wheatfield) started the final 10 games of the 2006-07 season.

The Bulls are 3-1 in their last four games. They have been held to fewer than 60 points six times this season. Last season, UB scored fewer than 60 points only four times in 31 games.
