Assemblyman John D. Ceretto, the Lewiston Republican whose newly reapportioned 145th District now represents Grand Island as well as parts of Niagara County, has been appointed as the ranking GOP member of the Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development in the Democratic-controlled Assembly.
Ceretto said last week that he was honored by the appointment. “Niagara Falls and our Western New York area play a large role in New York’s growing tourism economy, something we must work to enhance,” he said. “I’m excited to keep the momentum moving forward.”
Ceretto also announced that he has been appointed as a member of the Assembly committees on cities, election law, labor and energy. He was elected in November to his second term in the Assembly, defeating former judge Robert M. Restaino, a Democrat.
