The East Aurora School District is looking to slightly relocate the flashing warning lights in the school zone across from the high school on Center Street to better align with the expanded athletic fields that are more to the south.

The district wants the light for northbound traffic heading toward the village to be moved further south on Center toward Colden, closer to the edge of the athletic fields, officials said.

In 1990, the town received a permit from the county to install the two flashing beacons on the county road. The school district has been maintaining the lights and the town pays the electric bill, said Aurora Supervisor Jolene Jeffe.

Under the one light’s current location, drivers could partly have gone past the athletic fields before realizing they are upon them.
