Paul R. Bankoske of Clarence, a retired guidance counselor with the Buffalo Public Schools, died Dec. 17 in Naples, Fla.
He was 77.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Riverside High School and Buffalo State College.
He was employed with Buffalo Schools over several decades and retired in 1998.
Mr. Bankoske worked out of the district’s Occupational Training Center, placing students in jobs throughout the community. He was a member of the Buffalo Teachers Federation.
A longtime Clarence resident, Mr. Bankoske coached youth hockey.
He also was an accomplished athlete, participating in skiing, hockey and tennis.
He also played golf in all 50 states, a feat that took six years, ending in 2003.
He is survived by two sons, David J. and Robert P.; a brother, Edward; and two sisters, Margaret Putnam and Ann Marie Frye.
A memorial Mass was offered Saturday in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Harris Hill.
