The Red Thread Theatre, established in 2010 to bring more work by women and featuring female performers to Western New York, had a hit with its production of Bryony Lavery’s jarring play “Frozen” in May. The company is remounting the play with the same cast in a production that opens Thursday and runs through Jan. 26.

Lavery’s 90-minute one-act about the long and painful aftermath of a horrific kidnapping, rape and murder, was nominated for a Tony Award in 2004. The Red Thread production, presented in the Marie Maday Theatre at Canisius College (2001 Main St.), stars Eileen Dugan, Lisa Ludwig and Eric Rawski. Reviewing the May production, Ben Siegel wrote: “It’s a strong piece of theater about the weakest piece of humanity. It will gnaw at your insides. It will challenge your logic. It will prod and push you.”

Tickets are $10 to $20, with group rates available. Call 867-3102.
