Judith Anne Rechan, of Williamsville, who worked for 20 years in the radiology department at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst, died Sunday in the hospital after a battle with brain cancer. She was 74.
Born Judith Anne O’Grady in Niagara Falls, Ont., she attended Loretto Academy in Niagara Falls and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Welland, Ont.
She moved to the U.S. in 1968.
Known for her upbeat personality and warm smile, Mrs. Rechan supported her sons’ efforts as competitive hockey and tennis players.
She also was a PTA member, a Cub Scout den mother and a volunteer fundraiser for St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
She was recognized in a newspaper as Mom ’72 on Mother’s Day 40 years ago.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Leslie A.; four sons, Leslie J., Ronald P., Michael T. and Mark A.; a daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Olivet; and a sister, Gail O’Grady.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Gregory the Great Church, 200 St. Gregory Court off Maple Road, Amherst.
