Canisius tries to bounce back from a disappointing loss on the road at UNLV with a game against Alcorn State at 7 tonight at the Koessler Center.

The Golden Griffins (8-3) lost to the then-No. 21 ranked Runnin Rebels last Saturday, 89-74, despite four players in double figures led by junior Billy Baron’s 30 points. Senior Harold Washington added 17, while junior Jordan Heath and senior Isaac Sosa each had 11 points.

The loss followed the Griffs’ 72-62 upset win at Temple.

Canisius has won five of its last seven games entering tonight’s matchup against the Braves (2-11), who have faced a brutal non-conference schedule. Alcorn State – which fell to SMU, 67-52 on Saturday – has lost seven straight; its last win was Nov. 22 against Samford, 69-65, in overtime.

Seven of the Braves’ 11 losses have come to the likes of Missouri, Stanford, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Temple, Santa Clara and Detroit.

The Braves are led in scoring by guard Marquiz Baker, who missed most of last season and the first nine games of this year with a foot injury but scored an average of 23.5 points against Santa Clara and SMU.
