The Williamsville Village Board got an update last week from Iskalo Development regarding its plans for the 1811 Williamsville Water Mill.

“They have a preferred tenant,” said Mayor Brian Kulpa, “a niche food and beverage operator.”

The company, which would both make and sell goods, would occupy the first floor of the main, historic mill building when the rehabbed structure is finally ready for occupancy in the spring of 2014, he said.

While Iskalo Development Vice President David Chiazza declined to name the tenant, he did tell the board that the tenant’s occupancy of the mill building would not require the immediate construction of an addition, as originally expected. An addition would likely still be built, but not right away and not necessarily for the primary tenant, he said.

Kulpa said the village expects to complete its work on the mill parcel by the end of next summer, after which it’ll take about four months of paperwork to transfer the property to Iskalo, who will take over the reconstruction, renovation and expansion of the historic site.

“I think what we’re talking about here is, over the next few years, between $3 and $3.5 million in private investment going into that parcel,” the mayor said.
