The Town of Hamburg will commemorate its bicentennial this year with a final activity, a New Year’s Eve semi-formal ball at the Fairgrounds Event Center.

The evening will include music, food stations, open bar, champagne toast at midnight and breakfast. To purchase tickets, contact the Recreation Department at 646-5145, the town Highway Department at 649-7700 or at the Hamburg Casino cashier’s cage.

Rock the Roundabout, a New Year’s Eve ball drop, will take place in the Village of Hamburg on New Year’s Eve.

For those who don’t want to be out and about at midnight, the Hamburg Casino will count down to 2013 at noon Dec. 31 with the traditional fanfare of a midnight celebration, including hats, noisemakers, champagne toast, balloon drop and live music with Lance Diamond from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Also coming up:

• The Town Board will conduct a year-end meeting at 8 a.m. Friday in Town Hall, 6100 South Park Ave.

• The Village Board will conduct a work session at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 7 followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m. in Village Hall, 100 Main St.

• The village Architectural Review Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 in Village Hall.

• The Hamburg town ice arena will be open for public skating from 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and Friday, as well as from 8 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. Friday. Public skating also will be offered from 2 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. Sunday. The rink will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Jan. 1 for the holidays. There will be no public skating Dec. 31.
