A motorist slammed into a house in Evans on Saturday, after suffering a medical emergency, fire officials said.

The crash happened just before noon at Old Lake Shore Road and Wellington Drive, said Nick Mecca, chief of the North Evans Volunteer Fire Company.

“It appears that the driver had some sort of medical issue before the incident,” Mecca said. “He went off the road, traveled probably 400 to 500 feet past one house and then drove through a garage and hit the main supports.”

Four people were in the home at the time, but no one was injured, Mecca said. The garage was extensively amaged, he added.

Meanwhile, the driver – whose name was not released – was taken to Mercy Hospital. His condition was not immediately known Saturday evening.

Firefighters from North Evans, Highland Hose and Evans Center fire companies responded to the scene.
