What’s that rumbling? It is the convoys of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra criss-crossing the country with instruments and equipment in tow. Christmas is coming, and the musicians are heading our way.

The TSO will give two performances Thursday at First Niagara Center. The band will be staging an extravaganza based on its rock opera “The Lost Christmas Eve.” Also expect other traditional music on a grand and unique scale. Band founder Paul O’Neill, speaking with The News several years ago, said he was motivated by “love of classical music, rock operas, edge-pushing progressive rock, Broadway, heavy metal and the classic literature of Charles Dickens and Victor Hugo.”

The TSO performs at 3 and 8 p.m. Thursday at First Niagara Center. Admission is $30 to $68. For more information, call 855-4100.
