WELLAND, Ont. – A customer is credited with thwarting the plans of an armed bandit who attempted to rob Caisse Polulaire, an Empire Street financial institution, business, about 12:30 p.m. Friday .

The bandit, who fled empty-handed, is the subject of an intense search by the Niagara Regional Police Services. He was described as a white male, having a medium build and between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-1.

He was described as a white male, having a medium build and between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-1, wearing a gray hooded sweater that concealed most of his face, and an extra-large “AMP Energy Dale Earnhardt Jr. Nascar” jacket with sleeves covered by the sponsor’s logo. The jacket was further described as black and green with white trim, with the “AMP” logo on the back.
