The Salvation Army Buffalo is “praying for change” to improve lagging holiday donations.

The agency will hold a Community Coin Drop from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at its headquarters at 960 Main St.

Staff and volunteers will greet drive-up donors with hot chocolate and cookies and a chance to tour the facility in exchange for their contributions.

Major Thomas Applin, Salvation Army Buffalo executive director, noted that the annual holiday campaign is only at 47 percent of its goal of $1.25 million.

“The public should know that this goal is based on our 2013 operating budget,” he said. “This means that we need 100 percent of the goal to keep the programs and services here in Buffalo.”
