Joseph B. Fornasiero, a certified public accountant, died Wednesday at his home in Clarence. He was 70.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Nichols School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa.

Mr. Fornasiero began his career in public accounting in 1969, concentrating in local business accounting and tax consulting, while working for a national firm. He later established his own firm, which he operated for more than 15 years until it merged with Dopkins and Co. in 1987. He also helped form an interdisciplinary group within the firm called the Dopkins Healthcare Team.

Mr. Fornasiero was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a former member of Brookfield and Orchard Park country clubs.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Maxine L. Marcin, and two sons, Greg and Michael.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul Episcopal Church, 4275 Harris Hill Road, Clarence.
