MAYVILLE – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that it has teamed up with a national nonprofit organization in efforts to obtain tips from the public on a pair of recent burglaries at the same Dewittville gas station.
Deputies are trying to solve the break-ins at the Arrow Mart gas and convenience store Nov. 24 and again Wednesday, with the thieves making off both times with large quantities of cigarettes, smokeless tobacco products, lighters and cigars.
Spokesmen said anyone with information about the break-ins is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 753-4925 or 753-4907, or contact the toll-free numbers of WeTip at (800) 782-7463 or (800) 472-7766, or that organization’s website at www.wetip.com. All calls and correspondence will be kept confidential, and rewards of up to $1,000 are available if leads prove fruitful.
WeTip takes anonymous tips from anywhere in the United States 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All information is immediately linked to law enforcement agencies in the area where the crimes took place, officials said. All WeTip rewards are paid anonymously through the U.S. Postal Service to protect the identity of the caller, they added.
