The wreaths are up in Kleinhans Music Hall, and on stage is a sea of scarlet and sparkles. This weekend brings the Holiday Pops concerts, an annual tradition presented by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus.

Matthew Kraemer, the orchestra’s associate conductor, presides. There is a Coffee Concert this morning, and three more throughout the weekend.

Starting at tonight’s concert, Kleinhans welcomes a special featured guest, Irish tenor Ronan Tynan. There is nothing like an Irish tenor, especially this time of year. Remember when Tynan was part of the trio called the Irish Tenors, and it came out with the sparkling CD “Home For Christmas”? Their “O Holy Night” raised the roof.

Also on tap are a few classic carol arrangements by Carmen Dragon, the late music master of Capitol Records and the Hollywood Bowl. Dragon’s imagination and orchestration bring back the glamour of the silver screen.

The Coffee Concert – without Tynan, but with delicious free coffee and pastries – takes place at 10:30 a.m. today. Admission is $31-$51. The Holiday Pops featuring Ronan Tynan take place at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $32-$77. For information, call 885-5000.
