The Don Tequila Mexican Restaurant, located at 426 N. Buffalo St., Orchard Park, was heavily damaged in a two-alarm fire Tuesday afternoon.
The fire, believed to have started in an upstairs apartment, was called in about 2 p.m. and declared under control about 3:30 p.m.
Hillcrest Fire Assistant Chief Andrew Feisty said he expects the building to be declared a total loss but the total amount of damages remains undetermined. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Flames from the roof shot high into the sky during the most intense moments of the blaze. Firefighters were pulled back briefly because of concern about a collapsing roof.
No injuries were reported and upstairs apartments and adjacent buildings were all successfully evacuated.
Traffic was rerouted around the scene while firemen fought the blaze .
