The Buffalo Junior Sabres moved up to No. 8 in the latest Canadian Junior Hockey League Junior A poll Monday but saw their four-game winning streak come to a halt.

St. Michael’s (Ont.) scored thrice in 12 minutes, 11 seconds spanning the final seconds of the second period to past the mid point of the third during a 5-3 win at the Northtown Center in Amherst.

Tyler Gjurich scored his league-best 32nd goal of the season for Buffalo (25-9-2), which tied the game 2-2 early in the second period. David Italiano’s goal with 18 seconds left in the period broke the tie for St. Michael’s (20-8-2). Adrian Ignagni stopped 39 shots for St. Michael’s.

Brian Ruff and Pat Egan also scored for the Junior Sabres, who return to action at 8 p.m. Saturday at Mississauga.
