The University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Science's chief of cardiovascular medicine Dr. John M. Canty Jr. was named president of the Association of Professors of Cardiology for 2012-13. Canty is also the Albert and Elizabeth Rekate professor of medicine at UB. Canty has been a faculty member of the Department of Medicine since 1983 and became the head of the division of cardiovascular medicine in 2006. He is a graduate of the UB School of Medicine.
