The inaugural Holiday Live at Larkin family friendly winter concert takes place from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today outdoors at the Larkin Square boardwalk, corner of Seneca and Swan streets. The free event seeks to carry forward the success of the summer’s Live at Larkin Square concert series, which found an impressive array of local and regional artists performing for sizable crowds in the inviting environs of the Larkin Square grounds.

Holiday Live at Larkin will be headlined by Robot Holiday, the charmingly inventive collective of area musicians presided over by songwriter/producer/musician Jonathan Hughes. Robot Holiday is celebrating the release of the freshly minted “best of” compilation, “Come for A Ride With Us: A Collection of Wintertime Favorites.” All of the songs are original compositions and offer a refreshing take on the time-honored tradition of holiday music. The Robot Holiday collective will perform many of these “classics in waiting” during today’s show, with support from opener the Larkinville Players.

The event will take place rain, snow or shine. Promoters recommend that patrons dress in warm clothing, though “supplemental heating” will be provided. Copies of the new Robot Holiday disc will be available at the concert for $10, with all proceeds earmarked for the Food Bank of Western New York.
