A Geary Street man is accused of threatening a clerk with a knife at the Buzz and Bee Market, 2097 Seneca St., during an attempted robbery on Nov. 16, police said.

Charles R. Grotke, 52, who is being held on first-degree robbery, weapons and menacing charges, was arrested at Seneca Street and Knoerl Avenue about 4 p.m. Thursday.

Police said the crime occurred about 3 a.m., when Grotke – wearing a ski mask – threatened the cashier with a steak knife. Grotke fled empty-handed when the cashier screamed, police said. The knife was found on Geary and the ski mask, at Seneca and Weyand streets, shortly after the holdup bid, police said.
