UB’s dean of architecture gets coveted Bethune Award

Robert G. Shibley, dean of the University at Buffalo’s School of Architecture and Planning, received the Robert and Louise Bethune Award, a lifetime achievement award and the highest accolade bestowed by the American Institute of Architects Buffalo/Western New York chapter.

The award recognizes Shibley’s contributions to the profession of architecture over the past 30 years. He was instrumental in developing the “Queen City Hub,” the City of Buffalo’s comprehensive plan, and master plans for the Buffalo waterfront, Larkin District, Buffalo Olmsted Park System and the City of Niagara Falls.

Shibley also has played a major role in shaping UB’s footprint, including its expansion downtown.
