Louis G. Vergos, of Hamburg, a retired restaurant owner, died Monday in Buffalo General Medical Center after a year’s illness. He was 78.
Born in Doliana, Greece, he was adopted by an uncle and brought to North Tonawanda at the age of 17, then worked to bring four of his brothers and sisters to America.
He was a factory worker, owned a concrete construction company and operated several Buffalo restaurants with his wife, including Louis’ Ranch House on Chippewa Street. Louis’ Dog House on the East Side and the Vergos Manor on Main Street near Shea’s Performing Arts Center. After retiring, he helped his son-in-law repair cars in Spiro’s Garage in Buffalo.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Joanne Revelas; a son, George L.; three daughters, Cathy Fabiatos, Georgette Ghanny and Sandra Siridas; a brother, Peter; and a sister, Soultana Bellasis.
A funeral liturgy will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 146 W. Utica St. A Trisagion Service will be held at 6 p.m. today in Amigone Funeral Home, 1132 Delaware Ave.
