A Syracuse man wanted in connection with the stabbing of two guards at the Boulevard Mall last month was in custody Wednesday, Amherst police said.

The suspect, Dardrequez L. Haynes, 24, was scheduled to be arraigned in Amherst Town Court.

On the evening of Nov. 4, two loss-prevention guards suffered non-life-threatening stab wounds when they confronted a group of shoplifting suspects outside the mall.

Amherst police had been working with law enforcement authorities in Syracuse to try to locate Haynes in connection with the incident. It is not clear where Haynes was found. Sources told The Buffalo News he was arrested on an unrelated charge and was brought to Amherst on a warrant.
