An East Aurora High School teacher was arrested Monday evening after Buffalo police said they found crack cocaine in his vehicle.

Ryan J. Ellis, 36, a high school technology teacher and golf coach, was released on his own recognizance during his arraignment in Buffalo City Court Tuesday morning on a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Ellis, of Meadowbrook Drive in North Tonawanda, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. Monday at Goodyear Avenue and East Ferry Street, according to a Buffalo police report. Officers said they found crack cocaine in his vehicle.

The East Aurora School Board is expected to be asked about his job status at its meeting Wednesday night.
