LOCKPORT – William G. Andrakulic Jr., who has been arrested 11 times for alcohol-related driving charges, on Monday blamed his use of the sleeping pill Ambien for his recent arrests.

Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas said she didn’t think that was why Andrakulic, who said he didn’t drink between 1984 and 2001, was arrested in 2001, 2005, 2007 and Jan. 30 of this year.

She sentenced Andrakulic to six months in jail to start a five-year probation stint and added fines and fees totaling $5,520.

Andrakulic, 58, of Elderberry Drive, Niagara Falls, was arrested on a felony DWI charge after refusing the breath test following a collision on Pine Avenue in that city.
