Ten unlicensed dogs were taken to the SPCA Serving Erie County Monday, after Brant police responded to a domestic disturbance at a Detroit Street residence in the town.
Halbert L. Brooks, 53, of Farnham, and Tyrell D. Oden, 21, of St. Mary’s Street in Buffalo, were taken into custody following the dispute. Brooks was charged with second-degree harassment and Oden was charged with a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge the state’s Agriculture and Markets Law, as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, said state police, who helped with the case.
Both men were arraigned in Brant Town Court, where Brooks posted bail and was released and Oden was taken to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $500 cash bail.
According to Brant police, 10 unlicensed dogs were found on the property, including an injured dog found in the trunk of Oden’s car. All the dogs were taken to the SPCA for evaluation.
The town dog control officer also assisted in the investigation.
