Central District police charged two men with second-degree robbery early Sunday after a woman said she was assaulted and her cellphone was stolen.
The theft allegedly occurred during the midnight hour at the home of David Jones, 32, of North Street. He was arrested along with Clifford Johnson, 31, of Columbus Parkway. Johnson also was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
The woman said the men struck her in the left eye and both arms. Johnson allegedly took the phone and hid it on the steps of a Vermont Street home, where it was recovered by police.
