NIAGARA FALLS – Michael J. Schreiner, who held top positions in the local restaurant industry for many years, died Thursday in Niagara Falls Medical Center after being stricken at work. He was 49.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Schreiner grew up in West Seneca and graduated from West Seneca West High School. He later earned an associate degree in business management from Erie Community College.
After moving to Niagara Falls in 1989, Mr. Schreiner served for 20 years as general manager of Denny’s restaurants in Buffalo and Niagara Falls. For the past decade, he was senior shift manager of Thunder Falls Buffet at the Seneca Niagara Casino.
He was a member of the Niagara Falls YMCA and a longtime fan of the Miami Dolphins.
Mr. Schreiner is survived by his wife of 22 years, the former Tammy E. Shelly; two sons, Matthew and Jonathan; a daughter, Barbie; four brothers, Jim, Marc, Keith and Scott; and a sister, Laura Winkowski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Monday in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Catholic Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls.
