NIAGARA FALLS – A woman in a wheelchair suffered a deep cut to her hand early Saturday while trying to disarm a woman who threatened to stab her, police said.

Facing charges of second- and third-degree assault and menacing are Miriam R. Jackson, 47, of Main Street, and Aaron D. Jackson, 44, of Ontario Avenue.

The 22-year-old victim was returning to her Main Street apartment shortly before 1 a.m. when Aaron Jackson punched her in the face, police said. In her apartment, the victim grabbed a knife to defend herself but was intercepted by Miriam Jackson, who wrested he knife away, threw her against a wall and held the knife to her throat, police added.
