R. Kelly took a page from Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” and made an entire career out of it. The soul/R&B/pop icon has always been “all about the ladies,” his smooth, eloquent croon and mildly funky R&B boasting a super sensual vibe that has made him a female fan favorite since emergence into the limelight back in 1993. Dubbing his current road jaunt “The Single Ladies Tour” also plays directly to the base, that same core group of fans who have doubtless already responded warmly to the news that Kelly plans to take his long-running, serialized hip-hop musical “Trapped In the Closet” to Broadway in the coming year.

R. Kelly brings his “Single Ladies Tour” to Shea’s Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $48 to $88 (box office, Ticketmaster).
