The Meridian West Gallery, a new art space at 1209 Hertel Ave., will host its grand opening at 1 p.m. Saturday. The gallery was launched by George Grace and Nancy Clarke Mariani, two active members of the Buffalo Society of Artists, and its exhibition program will heavily feature BSA artists. Among the Western New York painters, sculptors and photographers whose work is on view in the gallery’s inaugural exhibition are Gary Wolfe, Priscilla Bowen, Rita Argen Auerbach, David Vitrano and Marissa Lehner – along with work by Grace and Mariani.
The space will also feature art and writing classes, play and poetry readings and other community events. Every other Wednesday, the gallery will host performances from local singer-songwriters. Saturday’s grand opening, which runs from 1 to 9 p.m., will feature performances by Ann Philippone, Michael Sheffield and the Lancaster High School Music Ensemble.
