A member of the 10th Street Gang was sentenced to nine years in prison Friday for his role in the attempted murder of two rival gang members earlier this year.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Tripi said Luther Jones, along with other members and associates of the gang, took part in a drive-by style shooting on March 20 in the vicinity of Trenton Avenue and Hudson Street on Buffalo’s West Side.

Jones pleaded guilty in August to attempted murder in aid of racketeering, which made him the 18th gang member or associate to plead guilty as part of the federal prosecution of the 10th Street Gang.

His sentencing by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara is the result of an investigation by the FBI, New York State police and Buffalo police.
